Endless Possibilities Start Here

The Foote Fellows Honors Program recognizes the most worldly and academically accomplished incoming students at the University of Miami. Foote Fellows have the maximum freedom to select and shape their path to graduation.  Beyond completing a major and a minor, all other structures of learning, such as minors, cognates, foreign language competence, are available to them as voluntary options.

The College of Arts and Sciences is dedicated to fostering Foote Fellows’ intellectual curiosity, academic preparation, a proactive involvement in extracurricular activities and interests and intellectual diversity including international students.

Freedom and Flexibility

As a Foote Fellow at the College of Arts & Sciences (A&S), you will enjoy unparalleled freedom and flexibility to explore a multitude of educational possibilities. This means you will be able to take additional majors and/or minors—from our growing list of 39 majors and 85 minors—and study abroad without having to worry about meeting the College of Arts and Science general education requirements.

Dedicated Advising

Your academic journey is your own, but you are not alone. At A&S, we provide you with a professional Foote Fellows Advisor dedicated to helping you make the most of your Foote Fellow experience. Your advisor will not only guide you through your academic path, but also help you get connected to university-wide and community resources and attain access to distinctive learning opportunities, such as faculty-mentored research, networking opportunities, off-campus internships, and exclusive Foote Fellow seminars on topics as diverse as your mind can imagine.

Bridging Disciplines

If you are interested in bridging disciplines, as an A&S Foote Fellow you will have priority into the prestigious da Vinci Program. Offered only at the College of Arts & Sciences, the da Vinci Program aims to enhance the opportunities for incoming freshman and sophomore students to explore the interdisciplinary connections between the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities.

A Launchpad for Entrepreneurship & Leadership

Are you eager to make your ideas into a reality and explore your passion for entrepreneurship? The College partners with The Launch Pad, a free entrepreneurship resource hub for UM students and alumni. We offer seed money to help you in your venture, giving you time and funds to develop a business plan and/or prototypes.
When you are ready to expand your leadership talents, we offer priority for year- and semester-long internships in the Dean’s office. This will allow you to learn what it means to lead and manage a complex institution.
